I chose Poisson, Poisson & Bower because I have known the family, they are all great people and I feel that I would get the very best service from someone that I know. Whitney Scarborough gave me the best service possible, always quick accurate and very dependable. Very up front and a true pleasure to work with.  Any time, I would recommend the firm for all attorney needs. Always there when I needed them, friendly staff, very knowledgeable and caring. I would highly recommend Whitney. A true pleasure to know I have her on my side.

Workers' Compensation

I was referred to Stewart Poisson after my accident.  I was unhappy with the lack of service I received by my company’s Workman’s Compensation representative and after meeting with Ms. Poisson, I was extremely impressed with her knowledge and professionalism. I immediately felt confident with Stewart Poisson and her staff.  They were extremely thorough when preparing for my case.  I was well prepared for what to expect, consistently updated with the status of my case and encouraged to offer my input.  The feeling of confidence when dealing with a talented, experienced firm dedicated to their clients is priceless.  Stewart Poisson is extremely knowledgeable, talented and genuinely cares about her clientele.  Her paralegal, Celia, was very supportive and helpful through every step of the process.

My case was an extremely complicated one that involved not only a Workman’s Compensation claim but also a Personal Injury claim.  Stewart Poisson seemed to navigate these complexities with ease.  My final result far exceeded my expectations.  There is no way that I would have had such a positive outcome without her representation.

Real Estate

George Bower has been my attorney for the past 20 years. He has always performed his work timely, accurately and always in a most professional manner. His staff, especially Courtney Brown, are superb. He and his staff have done many real estate deals for me and my companies in the past 20 years without any issues. In fact, on several occasions he has discovered title flaws that previous attorneys had overlooked. The paperwork on a multi-property closing we did was over 2 and 1/2 feet high. He always makes sure all legal issues are complete before closing. George is the most honest and reasonably priced attorney I have ever dealt with. I highly recommend him for any and all of your real estate transactions.

Family Law

We had seen Whitney Scarborough in family court several times and were looking for a local attorney.  We also checked with some friends who gave her a very high recommendation.  Our experience was excellent.  She walked us through the process and was always very prompt to answer any questions.  She also kept us updated through the process so we knew what to expect.  She also went above and beyond to make sure that everything went as smoothly as possible. I would definitely recommend her.  We have been very happy and would not hesitate to use her again if we need an attorney.

Wills & Estates

I am the lead executor of my Grandmother’s estate.  I started working with the firm of Poisson Poisson & Bower in June 2006.  Since then I have worked with George Bower and Courtney Brown to bring closure to the estate.  We have been successful in closing some of the Estate but because of its complexity we still have some work to do.

Since I mentioned complexity, let me briefly list some of the “bumps in the road” we encountered.

  • There are 27 heirs scattered across the United States.
  • It took two (2) years to locate everyone.
  • We discovered that 10 acres of the farm was bought and paid for but NEVER DEEDED WITH THE ANSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE.
  • Because 10 acres was not registered we had to file for a Quit Claim deed with adjacent land owners.
  • Then some of the heirs died and the deaths caused years of delay filing all the required documents with authorities.
  •   We had to have all legal documents in order to apply for and get Title Insurance.
  •  100% timber cruise and land appraisals had to be completed.

After all of the above issues were legally documented I could begin to sell some of the estate (which I have done).  But believe me, I could never have gotten this far without the legal counsel and guidance of George Bower (lawyer) and Courtney Brown (paralegal) at Poisson Poisson & Bower.  Even with all the frustration and aggravation we encountered they assured me that there was “light at the end of the tunnel”!

If you need to hire a law firm (and I highly recommend that you do) to assist any executor in closing an estate, I highly recommend Poisson Poisson & Bower!  They are extremely professional and a pleasure to work with under all conditions.
