FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  Wadesboro NC — Poisson Poisson Bower, PLLC, a full service law firm with offices in Wadesboro and Wilmington, North Carolina, welcomes attorney Rebecca A. Nelson to the firm.  Nelson was sworn in at the Anson County Courthouse on October 14th by Judge Kimberly Taylor.  The event began with a prayer by Nelson’s mother, Reverend Jane Nelson.  Fred D. Poisson, Jr. then introduced Nelson to the court.  Mark Hammond, Anson County Clerk of Court, and attorneys Charles Collini, Robert Little and Stewart Poisson all offered welcoming remarks to those in attendance.

Nelson was recruited by the firm to expand the legal services offered in the Wadesboro office and to provide high quality legal representation to the citizens of Anson County.  Nelson’s practice areas will include criminal defense, family law and traffic matters.  “The Firm has a commitment to providing excellent service in all areas of the law,” said Fred Poisson, Jr. “The firm is pleased to welcome Ms. Nelson to Anson County to handle criminal and domestic matters.  She will expand our ability to provide quality representation to all of our clients and in meritorious cases, will take into consideration their ability to pay.”

Nelson attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where she graduated with Honors with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science.  She attended Stetson School of Law in Gulfport, Florida and graduated this year with honors.   Her academic career included many awards for public service and pro bono work.  In 2003, she was selected by then Virginia Governor Mark Warner’s administration as a Governor’s Fellow.  While in law school, she interned with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and worked for the Public Defender’s Office and Gulf Coast Legal Services.

With the addition of Nelson, the firm’s Wadesboro presence has expanded to five attorneys, fifteen staff members and two buildings.  Attorneys Fred Poisson, Jr. and Stewart Poisson handle personal injury and workers’ compensation matters, and attorney George Bower handles estate, real estate and business matters; Fred Poisson, Sr. remains of counsel.  The firm also employs a non-attorney advocate, Catherine Wyatt, to administer Social Security disability claims.
