Fred Poisson Jr. Elected as State Bar Councilor

Fred Poisson, Sr. completes his final term as State Bar Councilor for the Twentieth Judicial District; Fred Poisson, Jr. succeeds him in the role by a unanimous vote.

At the November 4th meeting of the Twentieth Judicial District Bar, which is currently comprised of attorneys from Anson, Union, Richmond and Stanly counties, Fred Poisson, Sr. stepped down after serving as the Districtís State Bar Councilor for nine years after being elected to three consecutive terms. His son, Fred Poisson, Jr., was elected to the position of State Bar Councilor to succeed his father by a unanimous vote of the members present at the annual district bar meeting.

The North Carolina State Bar is the state agency responsible for regulating and policing the legal profession. State Bar Councilors review proposed ethics opinions and proposed amendments to the rules and regulations of the State Bar, they research the existing rules of the State Bar and they promulgate regulations and ethics opinions for the State Bar. They also review grievances filed against attorneys and discipline attorneys when appropriate.

Fred Poisson Jr., is the managing partner of Poisson, Poisson and Bower, PLLC in Wadesboro, North Carolina, where he continues the family tradition of service to the community through the practice of law. His father, Fred Poisson, Sr., is the senior partner of Poisson, Poisson and Bower, PLLC and continues to practice law with his son and his granddaughter, Stewart Poisson, who joined the firm in November 2004 and in doing so made the firm one of the only firms in North Carolina with three generations of practicing attorneys.
