Stewart Poisson Presents at Industrial Commission’s Educational Conference

Stewart Poisson was asked by the North Carolina Industrial Commission to present at the 21st Annual North Carolina Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference. The Industrial Commission is the judicial body for workers’ compensation claims in North Carolina. It hosts an Educational Conference each October that is attended by attorneys, adjusters and other professionals involved in workers’ compensation claims in North Carolina.

Stewart co-presented with Tonya Davis, a defense attorney at Hedrick Gardner Kincheloe & Garfofalo, LLP, on the topic of communications with medical providers in workers’ compensation cases. They each provided their perspective on Section 97-25.6 of the General Statutes, with Tonya speaking from the defense perspective and Stewart speaking from the plaintiff’s perspective. The hour-long presentation gave an overview of what is allowed and what is not allowed by this statute.

Stewart previously presented at the Educational Conference in 2012 on the topic of the Math of Workers’ Compensation Cases.

Stewart Poisson focuses her practice on litigation. Stewart opened the Wilmington office of Poisson, Poisson & Bower, PLLC in 2006. She assists clients in both of the firm’s offices in the fields of Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury and handles all appellate work for the firm. She particularly enjoys helping clients who have been injured in workplace accidents caused by the negligence of a third party. She represents clients in the both the personal injury claim and the workers’ compensation claim and is skilled at maximizing her clients’ recovery in these complicated cases.
