Stewart Poisson was asked by the North Carolina Industrial Commission to present at the 21st Annual North Carolina Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference. The Industrial Commission is the judicial body for workers’ compensation claims in North Carolina. It hosts an Educational Conference each October that is attended by attorneys, adjusters and other professionals involved in workers’ compensation claims in North Carolina.
Stewart co-presented with Tonya Davis, a defense attorney at Hedrick Gardner Kincheloe & Garfofalo, LLP, on the topic of communications with medical providers in workers’ compensation cases. They each provided their perspective on Section 97-25.6 of the General Statutes, with Tonya speaking from the defense perspective and Stewart speaking from the plaintiff’s perspective. The hour-long presentation gave an overview of what is allowed and what is not allowed by this statute.
Stewart previously presented at the Educational Conference in 2012 on the topic of the Math of Workers’ Compensation Cases.
