Frederick D. Poisson was sworn in 1857 and practiced law in Wilmington, North Carolina. Louis J. Poisson, Jr., started his practice in Wilmington in 1910 and served as president of the North Carolina Bar Association and the State Bar.
A Tradition of Integrity
Frederick D. Poisson, Sr., who now practices in Wadesboro, North Carolina, followed in his father Louis' footsteps and is active in the North Carolina Bar Association. Known as "Honest Abe" as a boy growing up in Wilmington, Fred, Sr. has instilled this appreciation for the truth in his son, Frederick D. Poisson, Jr., and his granddaughter, Elizabeth "Stewart" Poisson.

A Tradition of Competence
Poisson, Poisson & Bower PLLC boasts three attorneys who were members of the law review while in law school. Stewart Poisson served as Special Projects Editor of the North Carolina Law Review and was honored to publish her Comment in January 2004.
Mr. Poisson, Jr. has lectured on the topics of proving damages and conducting effective discovery. He is one of sixty-seven board certified workers' compensation specialists out of 20,000 attorneys in the state.
A Tradition of Community
Fred Poisson, Jr. came to Wadesboro in 1976 seeking the same small-town sense of community that drew his great-great grandfather to Wilmington in 1857. Over the years, the firm has cemented its bonds with Anson County through active community participation.
Mr. Poisson, Jr. created the Wyatt House Christmas Project in 1983 and the Wyatt House Foundation, which runs programs such as Happy Feet, Homework Helpers, and the Anson Crisis Ministry, in 1992. Both groups are named for the historic building that houses the firm.
The firm is a gold sponsor of the Anson County Bearcats' Sports Program, a corporate sponsor of the Anson County Chamber of Commerce Deer Hunting Tournament, a platinum sponsor of the Relay for Life, and a charter sponsor of the Circle G Arena Rodeo.
Other community activities that the firm supports include the Boy Scouts of America, Anson County Parks and Recreation, the United Way, the Anson County Historical Society, the Anson County Arts Council, and numerous church projects throughout the county. In addition, the firm annually sponsors a one thousand dollar scholarship for an Anson County High School senior interested in the practice of law.
