Fred Poisson, Sr. is originally from Wilmington, North Carolina, where his great-grandfather began the practice of law in 1857. His father, Louis Julian Poisson, was president of the North Carolina State Bar in 1946 and the North Carolina Bar Association in 1951. Mr. Poisson, Sr.'s brother, Louis Julian Poisson, Jr., was a board member of the North Carolina Bar Association and practiced law in Wilmington for over fifty years. Mr. Poisson, Sr. has been a trial lawyer throughout his entire career. He was Associate General Counsel for Carolina Power and Light from 1970 to 1985. Mr. Poisson, Sr. has also served as a North Carolina State Bar Councilor since 1997. He joined Poisson, Poisson & Bower PLLC in 1987.
